About Paul Wilson
Coming from the beautiful yet rugged City of Dunedin in New Zealand. After completing his studies in Physics and Electronics at Otago University; and wanting to combine his love of working with young people and his technical skills Paul chose to move into the teaching of Physics. Soon after he found himself in Hong Kong at the International Christian School. That was when things began to get exciting. Starting with only 6 Shure SM58 microphones he developed a comprehensive Theatre Technology program to meet the vibrant and varied performing arts program at the school.
Now known simply as the "Theatre Guy" Paul now manages a 500 seat proscenium theatre which he was integral in the design of the lighting and Sound Systems.
Not able to do all this by himself, he recruited two teams of willing students; one team in the Middle School, and the other in the High School. Arising out of the need for his tech teams to focus the lights, they started to build the stages and the platforms. Now the team does what ever it takes to put on a production; including creating dramatic sets at minimal cost.
Paul is proud of the fact that his team of students do everything that needs to be done. Surprising visitors, and often out performing sceptical theatre professionals.
