What other Teachers have said

Erik Melver

Middle School Drama Teacher

I worked directly with Paul on several theatre projects that I directed and he directed technically. Paul is a kind, considerate, thoughtful, genuinely curious and very agile director. He is able to juggle several major projects at once and delegate work as needed to meet deadlines. He is reliable, hardworking and always agreeable even when we disagree. My experiences with him were some of the best I've ever had as a director and I miss him every time I sit down to direct another show. If I had the chance I would have brought him with me to my current employer to keep making good theatre together.

Paul has high levels of expertise in all the important facets of theatre production; lighting, sound, sets, and production.  He has always used his great intelligence and experience to serve the needs of the school, and I have been especially grateful to him for his help in my chapel presentations.  He creatively stretches the boundaries of theatre potential by combining extensive knowledge of the equipment, while imagining new ways to get effects out of the equipment.  He also continues to update the theatre equipment, while staying sensitive to his budgetary constraints.

What would we do without Paul to help us with our Elementary Chapels? In truth, it is Paul we turn to and depend on. I know this is not his official role, but he is the most ‘in-touch’ with what is scheduled for the stage and is most able and willing to help. He not only gives practical advice and support, but is often around the stage when needed and is always willing to compromise as much as he can – i.e. letting us have the whiteboard for props!

Seriously, I want to thank you for the continuous support you give when asked both inside and outside of school.  I have been blessed by your skills and resourcefulness.  I know I do not speak for myself when we have to prepare for the all anxiety provoking chapel presentation.  Knowing you are there to help us, yes we know this is not your job, has been an enormously comforting safety net.  You have always been respectful of who should do what and you let us know who we need to contact and what we need to request, following proper procedures.  But, when those requests are not responded to or for some reason missed you have always been there to pitch in (even if it is not your job).  Thank-you for showing the love of Jesus and coming to our aid on you own prep time.
